Visited this lovely place with two awesome friends :)
A good day with good service, good food and good company :)
Even though we had to brave the storms and walk through thunder and rain, and beg the waitress for a table, it was definitely worth the trip.
All of the waiters and waitresses took turns to help us find seats and update us on the status of all the tables to inform us of the estimated waiting time, and we had a good laugh observing all the servers too.
And something I really liked about the place is the table mats they have. Our table had table mats with conversation starters. Questions like " what are your pet peeves at the dining table, and who eats the slowest, and how many ways are there to tell someone there's something in their teeth" It is a really interesting concept to help reduce awkward dining and a great way to keep guests entertained while waiting for food to arrive.
I always had the misconception that table manners is always empty, but I now realize that the times I walk past table manners is always either late in the night or at weird timing, hence the lack of humans in the restaurant.
Of course, back to the food.
Mmmmm~ Salmon with mushroom and truffle fries!
Can't comment much because I don't eat salmon.
The mushrooms were super mushroomy, no kidding. The taste of mushrooms overwhelms your taste buds with every mouth. Even though it sounds weird and unappetizing, it is actually quite yummy.
I shared the half rib and spiced chicken with broccoli and truffle fries om the side. Customers are allowed to switch among potatoes and vegetables. So we changed our potato wedges for truffle fries and house salad for broccoli.
Truffle fries are the love of my life. I really love truffle fries. And this is by far the second best truffle fries I've ever had. First place still goes to the truffle fries at coastal settlement. The broccoli was rather hard and tasteless, but still edible. Steamed broccoli with a pinch of salt beats this anytime ( I bet the chef would kill me if he saw this sentence ><)
The highlight of the meal: RIBS. Marinated overnight on BBQ sauce with a tinge of citrus, it is a real treat. The meat comes off easily and is extremely tender and it was so delicious. I was literally sucking every bit of juice there was out of the bone. IN A RESTAURANT. Talk about being unglam. I will never be able to eat in a fine dining restaurant without throwng my face.
The spiced chicken was more of a letdown after having the ribs. It was rather dry in some places and there were more bones then expected. Nonetheless, the meat at the drumstick (which is usually deemed the best) was soft and juicy with just the right amount of saltiness.
Chicken never beat ribs though. So I suggest eating the chicken first before the ribs! Leave the best for the last :)
Not forgetting dessert! I had the caramelised creme pudding? It totally tasted like egg. Egg tofu with lotsa sugar? Okay, it's not as bad as it sounds. It's actually rather good, but you'll get a sugar rush after consuming it. It is rather filling and is good for sharing!
This, lemon lime strawberry tart, is smaller then size of your palm. Not meant for sharing and is super sour!
Overall, the dining experience was really pleasant.prompt service, good food and the weekend brunch looks really good! And it does not burn a hole in one's pocket too. I'll be back soon to try the weekend brunch :)
