Day 4
My most memorable work experience
Topics like this cause such a huge wave of nostalgia that brings me back to my secondary school days. Weird as it may sound, I miss writing compositions so much. Thinking of how to portray the topic best, and allowing my imagination to run wild.
Anyway, back to the topic. I have had so many work experiences I don't even know where to start. I've had like 10 over waitressing jobs, ranging from serving in the Istana to serving shots to serving desserts. I remember, the first few waitressing jobs I've had, I never failed to break something in the shop in my first few days. My first job ever, I broke a salt bottle, secong job, I broke a plate. Third job onwarda, I just kept breaking things. Thank God the trend stopped after awhile.
Besides waitressing, I've did events, tuition stints, telemarketing stints, and now I'm even working full time as an executive officer. Sounds cool but its just an admin job/correspondence job. Nothing cool about that.
But through so many job experiences, I would have to say that only my first full time actually stuck with me. The rest are all a fleeting thought.
It was an internship at my church for three months. The first month was acclimatization, so it was just going through the motions. The internship consisted of a variety of duties, admin, planning, on the job trainings, and the best part of it was the interactions. We were supposed to teach the students at the student care and also help the elderly by sending them food and all. So we got out alot. And our major project was to plan a camp for the kids in the student care. That was the best part of the entire internship. That is also where I realized how much I loved to plan things.
The camp was a huge success and at the end of three months, I felt really sad that the internship was over. Since I was waiting for my Poly to start, I still had some time and EVRYDAY, I would ride my tiny spoilt bike to church and stay there the whole day, just teaching the kids, playing with them during playtime and all. Even though I got bullied by the kids alot, and they often made me mad, the love that they poured out was incredible. Soon after, when they knew I had to leave to go and study, they all made cards for me telling me to go and visit them often and they even gave me gifts. Some of them even asking me if I could not go and study and stay there with them. Now they've all grown up, hopefully all living happily and studying hard :)
